Preparing for Your Procedure
PHOTO REJUVENATION TREATMENT
At Village in the Spa Aesthetics Mississauga a photorejuvenation treatment is not difficult. When you come in for your first photo rejuvenation treatment, we will begin by filling out your medical form and any questions you may have regarding your treatments. You will then be prepared by proper cleansing of the skin. Some Treatments may require numbing for the area being treated. Goggles are placed over your eyes for safety. A thin layer of cooling gel is applied on the skin. The photo rejuvenation hand piece is applied to the skin one pulse at a time. Clients feel a slight stinging like a rubber band sensation when the pulse of light is delivered to the skin. The treated cells containing those extra pigments will migrate to surface of the skin and slightly darken from the IPL.
WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER PHOTOFACIAL TREATMENT?
Immediately following your photofacial, photo rejuvenation treatment, your skin may appear slightly red and mildly edematous. These responses are normal and are part of the rejuvenation process. Normally edema goes away in couple of hours and redness disappears by the end of the day. You are allowed to use light makeup after treatment in case you need to make this redness less visible. The brown spots/discolorations will start to darken. During a time span of one to three weeks after your photofacial treatment, the darkened spots will flake off and/or fade and facial capillaries or diffused redness will decrease. To maintain the results of your photo rejuvenation treatments and to help preventing further visible signs of aging, we recommend you to use a wide spectrum sunscreen on sun-exposed areas of your skin every day.
WHO IS CANDIDATE FOR PHOTOFACIAL?
It is also important for you to have a realistic understanding about capabilities of the procedure. People who have sun-damaged skin, discoloration, mild to moderate acne, large pores and wrinkles, may benefit from IPL Photofacial. For more serious conditions like heavy facial lines and severe acne scars or deep discoloration you may wish to consider more aggressive treatment.
WHO ARE NOT GOOD CANDIDATE FOR IPL PHOTOREJUVENATION?
People who have darker skin tone or are tanned are not good candidate and may experience alteration in skin pigmentation. People with darker skin tone is better to consult about the probable side effects before deciding to do the treatment. Besides IPL treatment for people who are under treatment by Accutane is contraindicated for six months after discontinuing the drug.
Usually multiple photofacial treatment s are necessary to achieve maximum results. Particularly when you need to address multiple conditions on your skin. Your skin care specialist can help you realize how many IPL treatment you need to reach the ideal cosmetic results.
