Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy

What is PRP?

Placelet Rich Plasma Therapy, or PRP, is a revolutionary procedure which uses the components of your own blood to regenerate your skin. The ingredients of this innovative method reside within a fraction of your blood, called “Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)”. PRP treatment is enriched with platelets, stem cells and growth factors. Once you have received a platelet-rich plasma injection, the following components will accelerate tissue healing via new collagen formation at the treatment site.

The process is relatively quick and painless. PRP has been extensively used for many years in plastic surgery, orthopaedics dentistry, cosmetic surgery, general surgery, sports medicine, hair transplants, skin rejuvenation, cardiac surgery and many different types of implants. Cosmetically, PRP has become popular due to use by celebrities.

PRP can help with signs of aging like wrinkles, fines lines from expression, and can provide overall improvement in the quality of the skin that’s being treated. PRP is known to help repair damaged scar tissue, which means it can be effective in reducing the appearance of pesky acne scars too and works very well in combination with laser treatments to get a smoother texture to the skin.

PRP can be injected to a wide variety of problem areas on the face:

  • Lip lines

  • Smile lines

  • Under the eyes

  • Acne scars

Why Is PRP So Effective?

Rejuvenation trends have come and gone, but PRP is here to stay. PRP stands for “Platelet Rich Plasma”, a serum made up of a concentration of your blood’s platelets. Platelets are rich in growth factors and other substances that are crucial for healing the body when it’s wounded; so, when PRP is Micro needled in, it stimulates collagen production and allows the body to rebuild damaged tissues.

After a series of PRP treatments, you should see improvements in fine lines and the overall quality of the skin. As your body responds to your PRP treatment, your skill will rebuild itself at the cellular level; there’ll be growth of fresh new skin cells, the blood supply to your tissues will improve, and the stores of collagen and elastin in the face will be stronger and much more robust. This isn’t a temporary moisturizing effect–your skin will truly be healthier and stronger than ever.

PRP is performed with the patient’s safety in mind. PRP can be performed By A Medical technician. In the first step of the treatment, a topical numbing cream will be applied and left on the face for about 15-20 minutes. Then, we’ll extract a small amount blood (around the same amount doctors use to get a blood sample). That small sample is centrifuged to isolate the platelets, and then the resulting serum is injected into the face using a very fine needle.

That may vary depending on your skin condition, lifestyle and your expectations. Three (3) treatments, four (4) six (6) weeks apart is standard. Once you and the medical aesthetician are happy with the results, you can maintain the look with top-up treatments maybe every 12-24 months.

You can expect to see the benefits of PRP facial rejuvenation in about one (1) to two (2) weeks after the treatment. Results are gradual, and the skin will continue to improve as the process of renewal can go on for up to a month after the procedure. For best results, we recommend three (3) to four (4) sessions, four (4) weeks apart.

Treatment results vary depending on your body’s metabolism. For some people, the results can last up to 18 months. Touch up treatments will maintain the results as well. You can easily visit a medical aesthetician around you for a consultation to see if you are a suitable candidate.
